Join us on Thursday, December 12, at 9:30am in the Wilderness Room as we gather to learn more about suicide prevention using the Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) model. QPR is a two-hour evidence-based training that provides practical and proven suicide prevention strategies for work, school, home, and in your community. Participants can expect to learn how to identify a person at risk and respond confidently.
Participants in this training will:
Learn how suicide is a public health concern.
Become familiar with risk factors and warning signs of suicide.
Understand the myths and casts of suicide.
Learn about direct, indirect, behavioral, and situational cues of someone at risk for suicide.
Learn how to ask and how not to ask about suicide.
Gain listening skills as well as skills for influencing a person to seek ongoing help.
Learn how to refer a person to resources and support them along the way.
Public Health Strategist and certified QPR trainer Melissa Witmeier of the Health Department will facilitate this session, which is open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. Space is limited--please sign up using the button below.
